BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost utilizes the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or putting in an additional lock to circumvent the security system.
The Ghost is different from other immobilisers in that it doesn't use key fobs or LED indicators. Instead, it uses the buttons in your vehicle to allow you to select a unique disarm sequence that only you are aware of.
Stop & Start
If you have ever driven a brand new BMW or utilized the stop start feature then you may have noticed that once stopped the engine continues to run for about 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to check the vehicle for a signal coming from the ignition key. When it detects this the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you push a button sequence.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms or key fobs. It is hooked up to your BMW's CAN data network and programmed with a secure, unique PIN code that is accessible through buttons in your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that are not accessible through the standard menus for media. For instance volume up/down, source air conditioning, cruise control etc. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 digits and is therefore difficult for thieves to determine or crack.
In addition, we can also add a service / valet mode to the system. This is activated when the car is scheduled for maintenance so that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. This can be done by pressing the service button on your infotainment system five times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return the Ghost will automatically re-arm.
Ghost immobilisers are highly recommended for high-end automobiles. It is completely undetectable, does not require cutting any original factory wires and can disable your cars engine when an incorrect pin code is entered. It's a simple, but effective method to stop your car from being taken even with a key that is cloned. Service Mode / Valet Mode
The Ghost is the most effective immobiliser available. It prevents your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning or hacking. It works by utilising the factory buttons on your vehicle to create an unique sequence of pushes that only you can identify, much like pin code security on your mobile phone. It's subtle and extremely effective in dissuading even the most determined thieves from ever trying!
When parked at home or in an event where you meet and greet, when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be put into service mode. This allows you to start your car with your keys as normal however it stops the engine from starting until the correct code is entered. This is a great option for those who need to hand their vehicles over to valet services or other trusted friends & family members. This lets you take your car to the garage for maintenance or repairs, etc. without having to worry about it being tampered with by a mechanic while you wait.
When the service or valet mode is enabled, it will stop your BMW from being driven after it has been started. This prevents anyone from testing while you are away. When you return, it will return to normal stopping your vehicle from being damaged or stolen once again.
The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you require is the correct keys, as the device does not use the original remotes, but can be used with them. We are TASSA registered, DBS security checked and fully trained in the system to ensure you are assured of the quality of our installation and that your new Ghost device will function according to the specifications. Your vehicle will also be registered in a database and you will receive a certificate that you can present to your insurance company, they will love these devices and you'll often receive substantial discounts as a result!
If you do not want to use a smartphone, or are not at ease with it, we can supply an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an additional cost and requires an additional Bluetooth pairing.
Anti-Hijack
With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated the security technology is continuing to change, that's why Ghost has created this subtle and discreet immobiliser. It is designed to stop thieves from putting in a key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN data network, and utilizes the buttons within your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create an individual push sequence that requires to be entered before the engine can start.
This will activate the anti-hijack feature and once active, any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. The system will hone the horn flashing the indicators, and stall the vehicle when the code isn't found. The Anti-Hijack feature can be disabled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode which allows your vehicle to start and drive without needing to enter your PIN.
If you own a GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system while the vehicle is parked. You can also use your mobile phone to control the anti-theft feature as well as other functions.
This is a Tassa approved product that is recognized by the majority of insurance companies. It will also help reduce the chance of your treasured possessions being stolen. Remote Control
We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go functions. This is useful when you need to be somewhere else and a mechanic or valet needs to start your vehicle. The system will allow you to turn the vehicle on and off, then select drive and exit service mode without needing your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle in real-time on a map on your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car whilst in motion.
The Ghost can be installed on the dashboard or within the centre console. It is completely concealed and tamper-proof. It doesn't require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code ghost immobiliser installation is inserted into it. This pin code has to be selected prior to the engine's start. This stops thieves from using a copied key or replacing the ECU to get around this system.
If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a security mode and shut down all functions unless a PIN code is entered or you can use the mobile app to dearm it. This feature was developed to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who employ relay boxes to take it. It also stops thieves from being able to use their mobile phone to turn on your sat nav or MP3 player to track your car!
Ghost also can stop "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most typical way a car is being stolen using a key fob that was copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing an anti-theft device in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device is installed in the key-fob of your vehicle and shuts off its battery after a couple of inactive minutes. This is possible with most modern PKE keys.
